Pneumatic conveyor

Pneumatic conveyors can increase productivity by up to 30%
and the efficiency of the automatic machines on which they are installed.

THE DELFIN PNEUMATIC CONVEYOR

WHAT IS PNEUMATIC CONVEYING?

Pneumatic conveying is a system widely used in the food,
agro-food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and chemical industries
. These systems allow the transfer, through closed/hermetic pipes, of bulk materials in powder or granule form, from one starting point to another, eliminating the risk of contamination.

The passage of a gaseous flow inside the pipes creates a (negative) pressure difference that allows the material to move forward. The gas commonly used is air, but in industrial sectors such as the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors, nitrogen is often required because, being inert, it is the ideal choice with potentially explosive materials.

The use of suitable conveyor systems for handling powders between the different processing machines can make all the difference in the quality of the final product

Pneumatic conveyors are used in many types of industries and their use can increase productivity by up to 30% and the efficiency of the automatic machines on which they are installed.

HOW
DOES IT WORK?

A variety of devices can be used to generate the driving force needed to move the gas, among which;

  • Venturi pumps
  • lobe pumps
  • single or dual stage electric blowers

Product transfer is achieved by suitably controlling the waterlift/vacuum generated by the air flow within the system. The product can be moved in different ways; Fluid Phase or Dense Phase.

THE BENEFITS

Pneumatic conveyors are the best transport solution for your production line
and this is why:

NO RISK OF CONTAMINATION

Pneumatic conveying increases the productivity of the line served by conveying the product inside a completely closed and airtight system, preventing the risk of product contamination, avoiding dispersion within the production departments and eliminating environmental pollution and the risk of accidents.

VERSATILITY AND EFFICIENCY

Pneumatic conveyors are flexible systems that can be easily adapted to meet a variety of production needs. Transferring high flow rates of material, even over long distances, while preserving the morphological characteristics of the product, has never been easier.

LOW MAINTENANCE COSTS

The small number of moving mechanical parts reduces the risk of component wear, making the system durable and with low maintenance costs. It is therefore easy to install these systems both on new production lines, but also on existing lines served by alternative, increasingly obsolete machinery.

TYPES OF CONVEYORS

DILUTE PHASE

  • Dilute phase pneumatic conveying involves a lower concentration of product in the pipes with a high percentage of air.
  • This means that the product is transported very quickly and diluted inside the pipes with relatively low waterlifts.
  • In this configuration, the material will tend to float and flow inside the pipes.
  • This type of conveying system is therefore not suitable if you want to preserve the product or if you do not want to demix it.

dense phase

  • Dense phase pneumatic conveying involves a high concentration of product in the pipes and a lower percentage of air.
  • This causes the product to be transported more slowly and compactly inside the pipes with greater waterlifts, creating real carrots of product.
  • In this configuration, the material will tend to move compactly and slowly inside the pipes
  • This type of conveyor system is suitable if you want to preserve the product and do not want to demix it.
