Lifting belt - Delfin Pneumatic Conveyors

screw conveyor

Choosing the right conveying systems for handling products in the production line can make all the difference, in terms of speed, savings and final product quality.
Screw conveyors have significant disadvantages compared to pneumatic conveyors for the transport of certain types of material, which result in inefficiency and high operating costs:

  • Bulky and inflexible system
  • Product damage
  • Difficult sanitising operations

PROBLEMS WITH SCREW CONVEYORS

The screw conveyor is a traditional conveying system with characteristics that in some cases can cause difficulties in the production line:

It is a very bulky system that does not allow bends or changes in direction. On the other hand, the pneumatic conveyor system is made up of flexible pipes, which can be installed quickly, are space-saving and can be moved easily when the production department is reorganised.

Another problem of screw conveyors is sanitisation: This operation is very difficult due to the need to remove the screw conveyor completely. Sanitising the pipes used for pneumatic conveying is quick and simple.

One of the things to consider when choosing between a screw conveyor and a pneumatic conveyor is the risk of damage to the product: the screw conveyor has a high risk of damage to the product, since the friction exerted by the screw conveyor during transport significantly ruins the product. On the other hand, with regard to the pneumatic conveyor, this risk is very low. The material is conveyed in air, minimising contact with any surface and consequently the risk of damage.

PNEUMATIC CONVEYOR: THE SOLUTION

Pneumatic conveyor systems make the process more efficient, safer and more hygienic:

  • They require little space thanks to the use of flexible hoses and can be implemented later thanks to their modularity.
  • They prevent product dispersion and contamination, and some models prevent demixing.
  • Maintenance is minimal and extremely fast and easy to perform because they are systems with few moving mechanical parts subject to wear. Only pure, non-lubricated compressed air is used, which helps maintain optimum transport efficiency.
  • Improved hygiene and safety in departments
  • Fast and simple installation and connection to other processing machines.
